Guide to Scouting: 2023 Edition
This book highlights everything related to hockey scouting. A lot has changed in the game over the past few decades, relating to both hockey and scouting, but especially on the scouting side. Players have become smaller, more elusive, with better mechanical tools to build from at a younger age. Skill development has continued to change the landscape in modern-day hockey, and many applications of that have allowed players to blossom into elite level NHL players. In this book, everything hockey related is highlighted. This includes tactical elements of scouting, what to look for as a scout, how to get into the hockey business and work for a team, how to write game reports, and much more. The purpose in creating this was to help people who are looking to get into the management side of the game, as there aren't many resourceful books out there to promote that, which is why I believe this eBook will help for sure.
A guide on how to get into the hockey business, how to approach the game as a scout, and understanding the nuanced details of hockey that have transformed the game from decades ago until now. A modern-day, attack-emphasis approach with small area style play has made the game faster, and made players more elusive. Also included in the eBook are topics like goalie scouting, how to evaluate hockey sense, how to evaluate forwards/defensemen and their modern-day styles. Evaluating the basics in scouting are also covered, such as skating, puck skills, compete level, upside, and much more.
